The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics (ACB) is a multi-nodal interdisciplinary Centre that uniquely brings together genomic and post-genomic bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, systems analysis and experimental phenomics to produce a deep understanding of how information in the genome is transformed into structure and function in the mammalian cell. The Fifth Symposium on Stochastic Algorithms, Foundations and Applications (SAGA'09) will be held in Sapporo (Japan) from 26th to 28th October 2009. The symposium offers the opportunity to present original research on the analysis, implementation, experimental evaluation and real-world application of stochastic algorithms. In particular, the focus of SAGA'09 is on new algorithmic ideas involving stochastic decisions and the design and evaluation of stochastic algorithms within realistic scenarios. Thus, the symposium wants to foster the co-operation between practitioners and theoreticians from this research area.

(1) The GIW-2008 Organising Committee announces two open roundtable discussion forums as part of the GIW-2008 conference program. One will focus on INNOVATION MODELS IN BIOINFORMATICS with participants from small and large private-sector enterprises. The second will discuss THE DEVELOPMENT OF GENOME BIOINFORMATICS IN CHINA AND INDIA. We are delighted to announce that Professor A.S. Kolaskar (founding Director of the Bioinformatics Center and Emeritus Vice-Chancellor, University of Pune) will participate in this special forum.
(2) The CALL FOR POSTERS deadline has been extended to Wednesday October 8.
POSTERS are solicited for the 19th International Conference on Genome Informatics (GIW-2008), to be held at the Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort & Spa, Gold Coast, Australia from 1-3 December 2008. We welcome posters in all areas related to a computational understanding of biological systems at the molecular level, including theoretical and practical research, software and databases, particularly at a genome-wide scale or with a systems orientation. Posters presenting relevant research institutions, facilities, centres and programs are likewise welcome. |
